The Philanthropy Knowledge Sharing Network is a collaborative network jointly organized by Center on Philanthropy at The Beautiful Foundation, Nanum Research Institute at Community Chest of Korea, and Child Welfare Research Institute at Child Fund Korea to exchange and disseminate sharing knowledge that encompasses giving, public interest activities, donations, and fundraising. Operating research institutes consistently in the nonprofit sector is challenging, but through the collaboration of these three organizations, we wanted to learn together, share research know-how, and extend experience of spreading knowledge and research—individually or collectively—to other research institutes as well. The network, which began in 2015, celebrated its 10th anniversary last year and opened its doors to other research institutes.
In 2025, network meetings are held every two months with even more organizations. The Nanum Research Institute at Community Chest of Korea hosted past two meetings, and the third meeting in June took place at The Beautiful Foundation. Since the previous meeting was conducted online, in-person meeting after a long time brought extra joy and enriched our conversations.
The center broke the ice with a bingo game, followed by a presentation on international conference participation and networking experiences under the theme “Nonprofit Conference Participation and the Butterfly Effect.” After the Q&A session, each organization shared updates about their current activities. Sharing newly published reports, upcoming competitions, and key projects helped deepen our understanding of each other’s work and highlighted similar initiatives. We’re curious about what butterfly effects the stories shared today will create in each of our respective fields. We hope to reconvene at our next meeting with even richer experiences!
