The Center has launched its English Website
Greetings!
As we continue to see the impact of COVID-19 on our lives and society, we feel more strongly than ever the need to connect with our fellow workers in the field of philanthropy at home and abroad. It is at this juncture that our Center has launched our English website. At present in its simplest form, we will make updates and improvements to provide you with insightful contents on our Center’s work and the nonprofit and philanthropy sectors of Korea.

Trends in Charitable Giving During the COVID-19 Pandemic in South Korea
Our center is carrying out different studies on the impact of COVID-19 on charitable giving and volunteering in South Korea. Read the summary of our first survey that asked 1,00 adults about their giving activities during the peak period of the pandemic.
‘Giving Korea’ Reports in English
Since 2000, our Center has published Giving Korea – research focused on the philanthropic contributions of individuals and corporations in Korea – and shared the results at the annual Giving Korea symposium that brings together experts and policy makers in the field. We have been translating the reports into English since 2006, with our latest published in 2018.
Conceptual Understanding of Transparency of Nonprofit Organizations in South Korea
This study delves into the subject of transparency of nonprofits in South Korea – an ongoing critical issue in this field in the country. The paper, written by the research team of The Beautiful Foundation, was presented at ARNOVA-ASIA 2018.
Youth Participation on Philanthropy in Korea
This study evaluated the activities of the Youth Allocation Committee (YAC), a youth-focused and youth-administered grant committee program organized by The Beautiful Foundation, and looked at how they differ from other existing philanthropic activities in Korea.
The Art of Successful Donation Proposals
The 13th book in the Nanum Books Series, ‘The Art of Successful Donation Proposals’by Jaechoon Kim is a practical guide to writing proposals specified for the nonprofit sector. This article is a concise introduction.
The book has been well-received in Korea, considered to be helpful to both those new to writing donation proposals as well as those more familiar.
If you would like to know more about the contents, please let us know.
Help us Build the Nanum Books Series
Our Center publishes a series of books on philanthropy, called Nanum Books (Nanum means ‘to share’ in Korean). Until now, we have mainly introduced books from the U.S. and Europe to our Korean audience. We hope to broaden our scope and share books from other countries, too.
Do you have any books on philanthropy from your country that you would like for us to know? If so, please recommend them to us.
Please send the title, author, and language of the book along with the reason for your recommendation to research@beautifulfund.org.
We look forward to hearing from you!
